Cravings
What I Craved:
I think its super important to keep your strength up while taking any form of chemotherapy. So, even when I didn’t want to eat or drink anything I would tell myself “this is what your body needs right now” so I could get over that hurtle one bite or sip at a time. I also noticed that even if I wasn’t “hungry” I could tell my body started to get weaker and I would feel worse. It’s a very fine balance between wanting to throw up every other minute and trying to keep your nutrition and caloric intake up. So, eat whatever and whenever you can and preferably not processed foods that are high in sugar or salt. Were looking for nutrients here!
To be honest, I didn’t have much of an appetite while I was taking the Temodar (chemo) but I definitely craved certain things more than others.
Fresh raw veggies with salt (cucumbers, bell peppers, crispy lettuces, kale, celery, etc.)
VERY bland foods that had zero smell (bread, rice, crackers)
Soups without meat
What I ate:
I did eat a lot of what I craved. But, I did get myself to eat more nutritious things.
Raw veggies
Bland foods
Soups WITH chicken/chicken in general
Occasionally salmon
*When it came to the chicken and salmon: I hated every bit of it, but I didn’t want to not get the nutrients my body needed. I could only eat very little.
What I Couldn’t Stand the Thought (or Smell) Of:
I really could not stand the smell of most things...
Meat/Fish
FRIED THINGS (OMG NO)
Oil in general
Sugar
Anything that smelled particularly pungent ( ESPECIALLY sesame oil)
Alcohol (don’t get me wrong, I love a good glass of wine but while I was taking the Temodar it sounded like the worst thing ever)
*I think its important to note that I DID NOT crave water... this was a very weird thing that I would have to tell myself to do. I usually drink a lot of water throughout the day but when I was taking Temodar I didn’t want any. I truly did not want to ingest anything. This feeling had a lot to do with nausea.
